If you love to shop (like me ;D), the market is a vast haven for trinkets and souvenirs. From vintage clothing and accessories to handmade crafts and souvenirs. After exhausting your energy shopping, you’ll also find a diverse range of international cuisines, including Asian, Italian, Middle Eastern, and more.
4. Take a Stroll along the Yarra River
Strolling along the Yarra River offers stunning views of the city skyline. The Yarra River has well-designed promenades perfect for walking, providing a safe and enjoyable pedestrian route. Several iconic bridges span the Yarra River, like the Princes Bridge and the Swan Street Bridge. Walking across these bridges offers panoramic views and lets you experience Melbourne’s architecture.

Sit back and enjoy the scenic journey as the tram takes you around Melbourne’s CBD. The route passes by popular attractions such as Flinders Street Station, Parliament House, Federation Square, and the Queen Victoria Market. Pre-recorded audio commentary is available inside the tram, providing interesting information about the sights you pass.
While the City Circle Tram is free, if you plan to continue your journey on other trams or train, you will need a Myki card.Ensure it is topped up with enough credit and touch it on the card reader as you enter the tram. The City Circle Tram operates in a clockwise direction, so be aware of the tram’s route and the direction it is travelling in. It’s a great way to get around Melbourne’s city centre for free while enjoying the sights and landmarks along the way.

Hosier Lane is renowned for colourful and ever-changing street art. Artists from around the world come here to showcase their creativity. As you explore the lane, you can see thought-provoking artworks with their own stories and messages.

If you wish to indulge in food and coffee at Degraves Street, do not overlook this iconic alleyway in Melbourne. One dessert place that I have tried in Degraves street is Pidapipo, a gelato shop that creates authentic, artisanal Italian-style gelato.

Visiting Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is always a good idea for sports fans. MCG has hosted legendary sporting events like the Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Cricket World Cups.
MCG is home to the National Sports Museum, which showcases Australia’s rich sporting history through memorabilia and interactive exhibits. MCG also hosts various sports, concerts, and events. I am so excited to attend Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour Concert on February 17th!
9. Shop and Dine at Bourke Street Mall
If you want a shopping and dining experience in Melbourne, visit Bourke Street Mall. Located in the heart of the city, this pedestrian-only road offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and cafes. Here, you can find flagship stores, boutique shops, and international brands, offering a variety of items from fashion to beauty products.
During the festive season, don’t miss the Myer Christmas windows, which feature intricately designed displays that delight visitors of all ages. Last Christmas 2023, they featured Bluey in their Christmas windows. It was my first time to line up with the kids to see the cute displays!
10. Visit the Shot Tower Museum in Melbourne Central
The Shot Tower at Melbourne Central is a must-see attraction. The tower dates back to the 19th century and was originally used for manufacturing lead shots, an essential component in firearms and ammunition. Its historical significance is preserved for future generations to enjoy. However, the building has been repurposed as part of the Melbourne Central shopping centre. The Melbourne Central shopping centre offers a wide range of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options for visitors to enjoy.
